This policy explains how Made by Oversight (“we”) handles personal data when you use PreviewKit. If something here does not match how you thought we worked, email hello@usepreviewkit.com and we will straighten it out.
1. Who is responsible
Made by Oversight is the controller for personal data collected through the Service. Contact: hello@usepreviewkit.com.
2. What we collect
- Account: email, name, and avatar if you sign in with Google; email if you use a magic link.
- Billing: Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, and whether you have Lifetime access. Stripe processes the actual card. We never see full card numbers.
- Usage: first-party product events (for example onboarding, imports, exports, upgrade and checkout). These go to our own database so we can see what breaks and what people use.
- Technical: browser, OS, language, approximate timezone, viewport size, and a session id. We may see a coarse location from the request (country) via hosting headers.
- Support: whatever you send to hello@usepreviewkit.com, including refund requests.
Your recordings and editor projects stay in your browser on this device unless we later offer optional cloud save and you choose it. We do not upload your footage to our servers as part of the current editor.
3. Why we use it
- To run your account, sign-in, and paid entitlements.
- To take payment, issue refunds, and prevent abuse.
- To understand product usage and fix export or billing failures.
- To email magic-link sign-in messages you asked for.
- To answer support and legal requests.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not run third-party advertising pixels in the editor.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK and similar)
Where those laws apply, we rely on: performing the contract (account, paid features); legitimate interests (product analytics, security, improving the editor); consent where we must have it (optional emails beyond transactional mail); and legal obligation (tax, accounting, dispute records).
5. Processors we use
- Hosting: Vercel (or the host we deploy to).
- Database: Turso / libSQL when configured; otherwise a local file in development.
- Auth: Better Auth, plus Google if you choose Google sign-in.
- Payments: Stripe.
- Email: Resend, for magic links and operational mail.
Those companies process data on our instructions. Their own policies apply to their services.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies or similar storage to keep you signed in. We use local storage for your editor project, free-export counts while signed out, and analytics buffering. These are required to run the product, not for ads. Clearing site data will sign you out and can delete the local project.
7. How long we keep it
Account and billing records are kept while your account exists, then as long as we need them for tax, accounting, or disputes. Product events are kept to operate the admin dashboard and may be aggregated or deleted over time. Local projects last until you clear the browser.
8. Sharing
We share data with the processors above, and if required by law, a valid legal request, or to sell or transfer the business (you would still be owed the same protections). We do not share Your Content with other customers.
9. International transfers
Our vendors may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, they use approved transfer tools (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
10. Your rights
Depending on your country, you may ask to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or object to certain processing. Email hello@usepreviewkit.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify it is you. You can also close Google access from your Google account settings. If you are in the EEA/UK, you can complain to your local data-protection authority.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. If we learn we have an account for a child below the applicable age, we will delete it.
12. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change. The “Last updated” date is the source of truth. See also the Terms of Service.
